AN ANCIENT QUESTION
People have been asking that question for centuries.
In the ancient Greek medical tradition, writers explained differences between people through the balance of four bodily “humours”: blood, phlegm, yellow bile and black bile. Galen, a Greek physician working in the Roman world, developed ideas about temperament using qualities such as hot, cold, wet and dry.
These were historical beliefs about the body and temperament. They did not describe separate personalities living inside a person, and the medical theory has been discarded.
Explore the history at the National Library of Medicine ↗Humoral theory sought to explain variation in health and temperament through different mixtures within the body.
Galen developed this tradition. Its influence continued for centuries, long before modern psychological research.
Prism takes the broad idea of a mixture as inspiration. Its four personality styles and two behavioural axes are a new framework, not a direct translation of ancient humours or proof of their claims.
THOUGHTFUL QUESTIONS. TRANSPARENT ANALYSIS.
Prism combines your everyday responses, your responses under pressure and eight forced choices. Its scoring engine calculates your personality distribution across four styles and identifies your leading combination of two personalities.
Consistency checks flag answers that may need a second look. Separate calculations describe how defined your distribution is, how evenly the personalities are represented and where your pressure profile changes.
Clear limits matter. Prism is an original, unvalidated development tool. Precise calculations do not establish scientific accuracy or predict behaviour. Your report offers possibilities to examine against your own experience.
